The second stop of the 2015 Freeride World Tour was cancelled on Tuesday after Frenchman Julien Lopez was caught in an avalanche on his first run at the Kappl, Austria venue. He was able to pull and release his FWT-mandated airbag, escaping the 20-inch deep, 130-foot wide slide with only minor bruising to his right leg and ribs, but officials deemed the course too dangerous to continue. The call comes after the FWT had already moved the event from Fieberbrunn to Kappl amid snow safety concerns.
