Red Mountain Is Buried

Just north of the border, Red Mountain was already having an epic season before last week's 30-inch storm

Recently a storm dropped 31 inches of blower powder that turned Red Mountain Resort, in British Columbia, into an even more fun playground than it already is. At Red, long, steep tree runs are stacked with pillowy poppers and cliffs everywhere one looks.

As many areas of North America have had a challenging winter, Red has been blessed with copious amounts of snow since the New Year. Locals are saying this is one of the best seasons in years. Even in Rossland, seven minutes down the hill, six-foot tall snowbanks surround homes. It makes for a lot of shoveling. But it’s all worth it for powder like this.
