On the heels of big announcements made last week at the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show tradeshow by new ski resort conglomerate Alterra Mountain Company about their new Ikon Pass, competitor Vail Resorts fired back Monday morning with an announcement of their own: Telluride Ski Resort will be joining the Epic Pass for the 2018/19 season.

Under the new partnership with Vail Resorts and Telluride Ski & Golf, Epic Pass holders will receive seven days of free skiing with no blackout dates at the southwestern Colorado resort. Those with Telluride season passes will receive 50 percent off lift tickets at any mountains owned by Vail Resorts. The partnership brings Vail Resort's global empire to 46 resorts, which has mountains across eight states and four countries.

"We're thrilled to welcome Telluride Ski Resort on the Epic Pass for the 2018-19 winter season," said Kirsten Lynch, chief marketing officer of Vail Resorts in the official press release. "Telluride is on the bucket list of skiers and snowboarders around the world who want to experience the resort's incredible terrain surrounded by the stunning scenery of the San Juan Mountains and an unpretentious mountain town."

While Telluride is currently on the Mountain Collective pass for the 2017/18 season, beginning next year, it will only be available on the Epic Pass. 2018/19 Epic Passes will be available in March.
