Record or not, Lindsey Vonn will retire after this ski season
Say it ain't so, Linds! The 33-year-old alpine megastar broke more than a few hearts this week when she announced that she would be retiring at the end of the 2018-2019 World Cup ski season, regardless of whether or not she breaks Ingemar Stenmark's record of 86 World Cup wins. Vonn currently holds the women's record of 82 wins, so the countdown—and the drama—is officially on.

We feel ya, lady.

Early season Montana pow? Bring bear spray
I've heard of early season sharks ripping out a ski edge or two, but bears?! Well, according to Montana's Great Divide Ski Area, large mammal encounters are distinct possibility for early season powder hounds. After the area received 18 inches of the good stuff last week, the ski area published a post reminding skiers that bears are still out and about, and bear spray should be in the backcountry pack until further notice. Powder, and trenches, and bears—OH MY!

VIDEO: New look at Michelle Parker, one of MSP's greats
It's hard to remember an MSP film without a solid dose of Michelle Parker, but it's rare we get an inside glimpse at the big mountain slayer. Her new web series, Originate, takes us deep into Parker's world, giving us the history, struggles, and laughs behind what we've become accustomed to on the silver screen. Check out episode one of five released earlier this week and let Parker know that Alaska is badass, but we want some of those big mute 5s back. Rock on.

Ralph Lauren's newest ski outerwear line is…umm?
Thank you, Ralph Lauren, for making me the second worst-dressed skier on the slopes. It's called fashion…look it up.

(Un)Real. Thanks, Ralph.

2018 PyeongChang Olympics swung $55 million profit
Standing in stark contrast to its Russian predecessor, Korea's PyeongChang Olympics just reported that its Games netted a cool $55 million in profits. The announcement came during an International Olympic Committee debrief, with the IOC adding that it will "contribute its share of the surplus for the benefit of sport in Korea." With Beijing nearing completion of its 2022 venues well ahead of schedule, it will be interesting to see if China can keep the torch alight.
