We’re hiring a social media editor to help us in our Carlsbad, California, office. We’re looking for someone who is a social media wizard and stays up to the minute on trends and best practices. About the position:

TEN: The Enthusiast Network is seeking a part-time, temporary Social Media Editor, POWDER for the Carlsbad, CA office.

Position Description
The Social Media Editor, POWDER (part-time, hourly, temporary) will be responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy for the largest social media presence in the ski industry, in addition to producing the daily content on our social channels. The Social Media Editor is responsible for understanding the goal of each post, which may include driving traffic to Powder.com, increasing engagement on our social platforms, and fulfilling sponsored content requirements. In all aspects, a strong understanding of our audience and a consistent ability to communicate in POWDER's voice is required. Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Social Media

Design and implement an overall social media strategy to align with editorial objectives

Develop and oversee content plans

Write, review, and edit social media content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other channels as they emerge

Respond to social media follower questions and comments when appropriate

Deliver regular updates to editorial staff concerning traffic and conversion by gathering and analyzing data on performance

Stay on top of social media platform changes and implement them in a way that will benefit POWDER

Monitor social media groups, trends, tools, and apps and recommend best practices

Manage all contests, including 31 Days of Giveaways, promotions, and paid social posts

Work with the sales team and clients to execute all paid for and sponsored social content while protecting POWDER's editorial authenticity

Manage the budget for boosted posts

Creative

Create social media graphics and imagery when needed using Adobe Creative Suite software or by coordinating with the Art Director

Work with Powder Productions to acquire original video content for social channels

Work with editorial staff and Director of Photography to source editorial photos for social channels

Develop and send biweekly newsletter

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications or similar degree preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience creating content for social media in professional environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be familiar with POWDER's voice, history, and culture
Knowledge and understanding of ski industry and ski culture is imperative
Excellent communication skills
Exceptional copywriting skills
Experience with digital content management
Self motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently
Detail oriented with the ability to produce error-free social content
Knowledge of digital image and video files and metadata, including correct sizing
Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics
Knowledge of Spredfast or other scheduling software is required
Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with WordPress and basic web development is a plus
Basic video editing experience is a plus
Being comfortable in front of the camera, for potential live feeds, is a plus

Physical Requirements:

The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view a computer screen

Equipment/Software Used:

Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
