February 24 has been declared CRJ Day. Two parties emerged to commemorate the passing of Charles Russell Johnson III just a year ago. High Fives hosted a ski day followed by a benefit party in Squaw Valley, while 4FRNT skis put together a day in memory of C.R. at Alta, Utah.

In Utah, the day started with a posse of skiers doing what C.R. would have done on a wind-buff day: skiing fast, tricking off natural features, and generally having fun. It ended at the Canyon Inn with a raffle to benefit High Fives, a foundation C.R. started working with during the last few months of his life.

In between, there was a presentation at the Gold Miner's Daughter featuring all the movie parts C.R. was a part of during his career. It was an inspiring montage taken in by some of the best local skiers—some of whom were inspired by C.R., and others who were an inspiration to him. Here is a gallery from the GMD portion of the day.
