If there’s one pro skier to envy, it should be Sammy Carlson. Not for his three wins at the 17th Annual Powder Awards. But for his three nominations for the marquee award of the night—Best Powder.

That means that Carlson skied more powder than pretty much anyone last year. Lucky guy.

Carlson took the award home for a dark and stormy segment in The Sammy C Project, a film by Teton Gravity Research. He was nominated for another segment in the same movie, and for a segment with Riley Leboe and Todd Ligare in the Armada team movie, DeepEST Day.

Aspen Ski Bum Figureheads Chris Tatsuno and Pat Sewell presented the award. After they announced the winner, Carlson thought he was walking up on stage to pick up a piece of hardware. Instead, he found a cold bottle of Smirnoff Ice.
