The holidays were good to Vail, with storms dropping snow every day for more than two weeks. Over Christmas break, photographer Jeff Cricco set out for the Vail backcountry to capture the storm, shooting photos from the Gore Range to East Vail. In many places, Cricco said the snow was as deep as four feet, with some spots harboring seven feet of deep goodness.
– As of January 5th, Vail Resorts is reporting a cumulative 159 inches of snowfall.
– A lift ticket to Vail costs $145. (Ouch.) Prices vary.
– For those of us who can’t afford that lift ticket, head to the backcountry. Be sure to check the avalanche forecast before hitting the skin track.
