The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series Opens Athlete Registration

Registration starts Tuesday November 5 at 10 a.m.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (Nov. 4, 2013)- The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series will open athlete registration for the 2013-14 season tomorrow Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. MST on Registration is anticipated to fill extremely fast after opening.

The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series’ (PPOS) three stops will include halfpipe at Copper Mountain, CO (Dec. 6-8), halfpipe and slopestyle at Whistler Blackcomb, BC (Jan. 13-16, 2014), and Stratton Mountain Resort (Feb. 20-22, 2014), which will feature a slopestyle competition and rail jam. The Copper Mountain stop will serve as a last chance qualifier into the U.S. Grand Prix series, which is the Olympic qualification series for freeskiing athletes in the U.S. and will ultimately select the athletes who will compete for the U.S. Olympic Freeskiing team at the Sochi Winter Olympics in February 2014. The Sochi Olympics will be the first Winter Games to include freeskiing, halfpipe, and slopestyle.

The Copper Mountain and Stratton Mountain stops will both be International Ski Federation (FIS) sanctioned events with Copper Mountain designated as a NorAm Cup. All three PPOS events are also part of the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) competition schedule.

Prequalified athletes must indicate interest by registering. Prequalification is based off of the 2012-13 AFP end of year standings. The top 30 men in slopestyle, top 20 men in halfpipe, top 20 women in slopestyle, and top 20 women in halfpipe will be prequalified. Any 2012-13 PPOS competitor who finished in the top three at any stop is also prequalified for the 2014 season. Athletes must be 14 years of age or older to compete as of December 31, 2013. *For Copper Mountain and Stratton events only, U.S. athletes must have a valid FIS and USSA membership at least one week prior to the event to compete. Non-U.S. citizens only need to have a FIS membership. Visit to purchase your freestyle/freeskiing FIS and USSA membership.

*Athletes must be at least 14 years old as of December 31st, 2013 to compete. Athletes under the age of 18 will need to have a legal guardian sign both the MSI and Resort Waivers and bring them to the event.

Association of Freeskiing Professionals

2013-14 FIS Freestyle NorAm Cup
2013-14 FIS Freestyle NorAm Cup is a competitive series of events, primarily designed to provide opportunity for United States and Canadian Athletes in Freestyle Skiing to gain pre-world cup experience. As a region of the FIS International Continental Cup worldwide series of events, the NORAM CUP is part of the path to the World Cup, World Ski Championships and Olympic Winter Games for all Freestyle Skiing athletes. This seasons NORAM CUP will host 33 Events in 14 Locations for both Male and Female athletes in the Olympic Freestyle Skiing disciplines of ski cross, moguls, halfpipe, slopestyle and aerials with total prize purse of over $75,000 to be awarded.
