VETERAN EDITOR MATT HANSEN RETURNS FULL TIME TO POWDER MAGAZINE
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (May 15, 2013) — POWDER Magazine, coming off three MAGGIE awards, including Best Overall Publication, is pleased to announce the return of Matt Hansen to a full-time position as Editor-at-Large.
A POWDER editor for seven years—three as managing editor and four as senior editor—from 2004-11, Hansen has been working as a contractor for the magazine the last two volumes. He will work remotely from the San Clemente-based POWDER office.
"I couldn’t be more excited about returning to POWDER on a full-time basis," says Hansen, who will eventually be relocating to Jackson, Wyoming, later this summer. "The title has never been stronger—a credit to its current staff, deep legacy, and its readers, who hold great expectations every time they see the POWDER logo sticking up out of their mailbox. I look forward to helping the staff exceed these high expectations, and to make sure POWDER continues to evolve in what is a very dynamic media landscape.”
"Hiring Matt back on staff in a full-time role is a no-brainer," says POWDER Editor John Stifter. "Few journalists in ski media possess the wisdom and integrity of Matt. Although he's been a regular contributor the last two volumes, having him involved with daily duties will augment POWDER's status as the most authentic and credible source in ski media."
Hansen will assist in all editorial properties, including print, digital, and events. He fills a position vacated by former managing editor Mike Rogge, who has moved on to a senior correspondent role with the title.
