Fourteen Westminster Students Make 2010 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team
More than 1/3 of this year's team is from Westminster

SALT LAKE CITY- Kicking off its march to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team <http://www.usskiteam.com/freestyle> recently released its athlete roster for the 2010 season. A total of 36 athletes have been named to the team, and 14 Westminster students are among it - more than one third of the 2010 team.

Among those ready to showcase their skills to the Olympic community are World Championship gold medalist Ryan St. Onge (sophomore), and Olympians Jana Lindsey (freshman) and Emily Cook (freshman).

"Our team is stacked with athletes who have found success at all levels of competition and we are looking forward to keeping consistency on that front in 2010," said U.S. Freestyle Ski Team head coach Jeff Wintersteen. "It’s going to be an exciting season for freestyle."

Westminster currently has 39 students on the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team who compete in a variety of disciplines, from snowboarding to cross-country skiing.

"We're very excited to have so many student athletes here at Westminster," said Michael Bassis, Westminster president. "These world-class athletes bring a variety of experiences to the classroom and help contribute to our unique environment for learning. We wish them great success this season heading toward the Olympics!"
