The POWDER staff is attending SIA in Denver this week—the snow sports industry’s biggest trade show, where we are getting a first look at the best gear for skiers. For more reviews and first looks at new gear, go here.

The ultimate outerwear conundrum of late—being tackled by brands across the board—is how to create a piece of apparel that is waterproof and fully breathable at the same time. Solutions exist, but tend to leave something desired when push comes to shove. Flylow's latest and greatest design, the Lab Coat (and counterpart Compound Pant), uses eVent fabric technology for ultimate performance. Millions of microscopic pores built into a proprietary membrane work instantly to vent water vapor (a.k.a. sweat) that would otherwise build up inside apparel. With the Direct Venting Membrane sandwiched between a DWR-treated face fabric and a softer backer fabric, the Lab Coat becomes waterproof, wind-resistant, and fully breathable. You'll find all the features you'd expect in a top-of-the-line ski jacket, like articulated shoulders and arms, six pockets, a removable powder skirt, and 14-inch pit zips. Sorry ladies, no women's version is available as of yet.
