Legendary conservationist George Bird Grinnell called Glacier National Park, in northwest Montana, the “crown of the continent.” If you’ve ever driven up the Going To The Sun Road or stared out at all the glaciers from Many Glacier or even seen a grizzly and its rippling muscles on a scree field across the valley, then you might be dishing out a fistpound to Grinnell.
From the multimedia digital feature Monumental: Skiing Our National Parks, presented by REI Co-Op, we bring you the above video edit from Glacier that lives within the story. Therein, you’ll find words from Drew Pogge, photographs from Jay Goodrich, and video shot by KGB Productions and edited by Hennie Van Jaarsveld of POWDER Productions. Skiers on the Yellowstone trip include Andy Mahre, Lynsey Dyer, Griffin Post, and Glacier local David Steele.
Be sure to check out the feature-length film “Monumental: Skiing Our National Parks”, premiering October 20 in Denver, CO, followed by a nationwide tour. Additionally, POWDER produced a 142-page hardcover book of the project, filled with stunning images and intimate personal essays. Go here for film, book, tour, and ticket information.
