Tom Wallisch Sets World Record Rail Slide

Guinness adds a new name to the books

While the rest of us were busy crafting the perfect goggle tan, X Games Freeski Gold Medalist Tom Wallisch proved, yet again, that’s he’s a better skier than you. Wallisch recently added his name to the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest rail grind on skis.

Snow Park Technologies helped Wallisch truck in over 10,000 pounds of steel, which was then welded piece by piece on the hill to complete the custom rail.

“The first time I saw it I thought ‘No way. I made a horrible mistake,” said Wallisch, but determination prevailed. After several days and hundreds of attempts, Wallisch successfully rode 424 feet surpassing the previous record of 405 feet set by Simen Gjelsvik in 2015.
