The first episode of Chris Benchetler’s four-part installment Chasing El Niño took us through areas of the Sierra Nevada that have been inaccessible for years due to the severe drought. The all-GoPro footage served as a celebration of the good winter that’s been a long time coming for California while also a cautionary tale that the drought isn’t over yet.
Episode 2, released Wednesday, sends us up north in search of the steep and deep of Canada’s British Columbia. Benchetler links up with local boy Nick McNutt, the sport’s definitive switch skier, just in time to get shut down by super soaker conditions. Wet snow and zero visibility test their patience to the max. But when the sun finally shines, it’s party time—and all cares are left behind.
