Apocalypse Snow, le movie

Villainous monoskiers try to capture the hero snowboarder to steal the secrets of skiing

During the Vietnam War, Captain Willard is sent on a dangerous mission into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade colonel who has set himself up as a god among a local tribe… Oh wait, that’s Apocalypse Now, this is Apocalypse Snow, the 1983 Eurocentric classic directed by French filmmaker Didier Lafond surrounding a timeless snowboarders versus skiers showdown, set to a soundtrack reminiscent of the MacGyver theme song meets dial-up internet. Crazy costumes, dramatic chase scenes, and a giant plastic Zorb make for a comic book-esque, psychedelic ski flick that almost makes you long for the days of neon suits and techno pop. This French ski film is le wacky, even for the 80s.
