Blind Skier Shows Anything Is Possible

Donovan Tildesley feels the beauty of the mountains without use of eyes

When Donovan Tildesley was 2 years old, he was sitting in his mother’s lap, when she told him that he sees with his hands, while his mommy and daddy see with their eyes. At that same time, his dad began singing him a song.

“I remember (Dad) would sing to me, as early as a 2-year-old, ‘If you want something you got to go get it, got to go get it, got to go get it. If you want something you got to go get it, and that’s the way it is.’ And that was the mentality he instilled within me as a youngster.”

And so Tildesley started skiing. —John Clary Davies
