POWDER is now accepting applications for the 2017 sales & marketing fellowship program. This person will assist the magazine Publisher and the Sales and Marketing team with marketing initiatives, sales projects, event management, research and more throughout the 2017/2018 publishing season and Volume 46.
It is a six-month, paid part-time (three days/week) position based in Carlsbad, California, starting June 1, 2017, and concluding December 20, 2017.
First and foremost, candidates must be skiers. They should be familiar with POWDER magazine and Powder.com, and have a desire to learn more about the ski industry. They must be curious, motivated, and hard working. The fellow will work closely with the sales team at POWDER, gain hands-on experience at an award-winning magazine, and receive invaluable exposure to the ski industry.
The fellow will provide the following duties, but not limited to:
Researching trends and opportunities to better market POWDER.
Managing inventory and sales of all POWDER merchandise
Assisting sales & marketing team with administrative tasks.
Act as Assistant Event Manager of the 18th Annual Powder Awards and other POWDER-branded events throughout the season.
Assist in the creation and marketing of the annual advertorial Buyer’s Guide
One to two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a publication. This position is ideal for a recent college grad.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Self-motivator capable of producing high quality work within strict deadlines.
Knowledge and experience in event planning and activation.
Excellent communication skills.
Understand this is not a 9-5 job. It is a lifestyle decision.
Passion for skiing and knowledge of POWDER magazine.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, WordPress, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, and iMovie and/or Finalcut Pro.
