Here we go again, it’s ski movie premiere time. This year’s crop of films goes back to the basics of good ol’ skiing. Sure, we’ll still get an eye-full of RED cameras and heli shots, but ski movie companies are also doing less with more. Filmmakers continue to scour the earth in search of the deepest, lightest snow, but they’re also filming in their backyards. Keep an eye out for the few films that are doing something different this year, like Unicorn Picnic’s girls-only project and MSP’s two-year movie. But for the most part, ski movies are coming back to that sweet spot, because really, that’s all we need to get psyched on winter—damn good skiing in the world’s biggest mountains.
Mark the following dates on the calendar for this season’s biggest and rowdiest ski movie premieres. The first are just around the corner, debuting in Jackson Hole, Boulder and Salt Lake City this weekend. Button up your flannel, pocket a can of brew, meet up with your best buds, and we’ll see you at the movies.
