(Alta, WY — April 6, 2010) — Stacked spring snowstorms have blanketed Grand Targhee Resort in overfive feet of snow this past week, forcing resort management to reconsider the scheduled closing day of Sunday, April 11, 2010.
“We typically receive great snow in March and April, and many of our guests ask us to consider postponing our closing day every year,” said F. Scott Pierpont, General Manager, Grand Targhee Resort. “This decision is based on those requests, our excellent conditions and the potential for additional business.”
While there are rumors that Grand Targhee may have stayed open after their expected closing day back in the 1970’s, current twenty-five-year employees cannot recall Grand Targhee Resort ever having extended the winter season.
Grand Targhee Resort’s season is extended through Sunday, April 18, 2010.

“We’re thrilled to extend the season for our passholders, and for skiers and riders who didn’t get enough powder days under their belts,” said Shannon Brooks Hamby, Communications Director, Grand Targhee Resort. “This is a bit of an experiment on our end to see if business levels can support the expense of extending our season. We encourage all local and regional skiers and snowboarders to come on out and take advantage of our affordable rates and great snow!”
