BANNER YEAR IN CORDOVA, AK
The Chugach Mountains had a banner season! With over 550 plus inches of snowfall to date, it just could not get any better!
We have closed the doors for the 2010 heli ski season here in Cordova and are already looking forward to next year.
Our season started this year in early February with great snow and sunny skies. Stability was all time and everyone had the opportunity to “get after it” . March arrived and we entered the “storm of all storms” that literally hit every Mountain Range in Alaska. It lasted for over 12 days and produced close to 10 feet of snow at sea level! On the glaciers we “guesstimated” anywhere from 15-25 feet of snow. There was truly more snow than we could measure! There is a reason why the Chugach is claimed to be one of the snowiest places on earth, which of course produces the “super-bowl” of heli skiing.
After the storm of all storms we were blessed with great weather for the majority of the remaining weeks of the season. Most everyone had the opportunity to get Alaska like you dream of! We feel very lucky and blessed to say that everyday guest’s returned from the mountains safely with the common theme being, “that is the best ski day of my life”.
A big salute to the Chugach Mountains for being such an amazing place and to Mother Nature for allowing us to enjoy it. Heli skiing in Alaska is truly like no other place on the planet, no matter who you visit, you will experience the trip of a lifetime if you get the weather. The Chugach will be engraved in your heart and soul forever! Here’s to all of the operations for keeping folks safe and sound.
Thanks to all of those who came to visit us! We could not have done it without you!
Until next season…
