Manufacturer's Description

When you first try on the Tecnica Mach 1 130, remember that the liner is designed to be worked on like an exterior shell. This is why it’s absent of the cushy wads of foam found in many comparable boots. In fact, I found this boot to be flat-out uncomfortable out of the box. But a few shell and liner modifications later, the Mach 1 130 LV was one of the most perfectly fitting boots I’ve ever slid my foot into.

The Tecnica Mach 1 130 flex is more progressive than your average two-piece overlap-style boot, and I couldn’t find high enough speeds on crummy enough snow to push through it. The Mach 1’s modular design is a valuable feature for the DIY crowd that’s hard on their equipment. Nearly every part on this boot is replaceable with a Phillips screwdriver, and Tecnica’s kick-ass customer service department is great at getting you the parts you need in a hurry. Although much of the upright-skiing millennial population may find the 12 degrees of forward lean to be a bit much, those big mountain guys who “used to race‰” will love it. —Alex Buecking
