Mark Abma doesn’t remember much from the 2007 Powder Awards (“I guess I had a little too much fun later that evening,” he says). But he definitely won’t forget winning Best Male Performance for his role in Matchstick Productions’ Push, which won movie of the year.

“I wasn’t expecting the award for myself, but I was expecting Rory Bushfield to take it that year,” recalls Abma. “Rory had a really good season and finished it off with a huge switch double back, which I thought would put him on top.

“It means a lot to be nominated amongst some of the top riders in the freeskiing world. To take home that award is one that I feel truly fortunate to receive. I believe that to receive that award there is a lot of effort, but also lot of luck with being at the right place at the right time.”
