Music blaring, crowd roaring, insane footage from the year’s best ski movies rolling, and all of the ski industry’s high-rollers packed under one roof in a little town they call Aspen…what else could it be, but the 2010 Powder Video Awards (PVA) & Reader Poll presented by Verizon Wireless and Samsung?

The highlight of the evening was the induction of the “Lifetime Achievement Award,” which went to the legendary Warren Miller. He flew in from Montana for the show tonight despite a broken back. “I’m 85, that’s a long trip on a pair a skis,” says Miller before encouraging all the skiers in the room to “hitch up their pants” and spend their careers chasing the insane standard set by Shane McConkey. “Make a lot of turns and enjoy every moment of it…just don’t cross your tips!”

Much of the innovation that Powder celebrated tonight wouldn’t have been possible without the foundation laid by those who have come before us. As recognized tonight by winning filmers and athletes alike.

Coming full circle tonight was 2009 “Breakthrough Performer,” Sean Pettit who took home the prize tonight for both “Best Male” and “Full Throttle” for his performance in In Deep by MSP. As if that wasn’t honors enough, Tanner Hall proclaimed “[Sean Pettit] is a real skier…he’s the future. I am so proud of you Sean. You literally are the best skier in the world.”

Lynsey Dyer broke in snagging the award for “Best Female” for her performance in Magic Moments by Stormshow Studios. “Wow, this is awesome!” said Dyer. “I finally got one of these!” As co-founder for SheJumps, a non-profit group working to increase the participation of women in outdoor activities, Dyer threw props to all the women shredding right now. “Cheers to all you girls that rip.”

The most coveted honor of the night went to MSP for In Deep, making it their fifth “Movie of the Year Award” win in PVA history.
