This Is House-Hucking

It snowed so much in Tahoe last winter, houses became pillow lines

January 22, 2017, Olympic Valley, California

It snowed so much in Tahoe last winter that photographer Ryan Salm got bored shooting powder days. "I found myself branching out and looking for new subject matter," he said. It was then he had a conversation with a couple of skiers regarding some rare first descents. With avy danger high and resorts on a weather hold, John Dzintars Rarick had told Bevan Waite about a "sick pillow line." It ended up being a house. "We were hooked on house hucking," said Waite after he jumped his first rooftop. "I pointed at a neighboring mansion just up the road: 'Let's send that one next!'"
