Storm Dispatch — Whitewater

Hard to beat British Columbia glades on a storm day. A photo gallery by Mattias Fredriksson.

According to POWDER senior photographer Mattias Fredriksson, a storm that brought 30 to 40cms (about 15 inches) of snow to Nelson, British Columbia, the first week of January left locals digging out their driveways for two days straight. After a slow start to the season, Nelson skiers devoured their first blast of snow in the steep trees of Whitewater. “It was pretty insane, actually,” Fredriksson wrote in an email. “I was lucky we could find some untracked snow to capture these photos.” Frediksson, who has been visiting and shooting in the Nelson area for 15 years, captured these photos on January 5th and 6th.
