FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHISTLER, B.C., July 17, 2013 – Following on the popularity and feedback from the last three years of Whistler Outdoor Photography Workshops we are pleased to announce dates for a Fall Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit, September 26th-29th, 2013.
This year, we will be offering a Sports Action Photography Workshop and a General Outdoor Photography Workshop. Workshop participants will take their photography to the next level and develop their own individual skill sets, goals and interests through one-on-one instruction. The goal of these workshops is to help participants visualize, plan and execute the concepts of field shoots and use that training on their own shoots and adventures in the future. All this can be achieved regardless of ones background — whether they are a hobby photographer or an emerging pro. The Evening Lecture Series is back as well for all participants and also for those who can not participate in a full workshop.
“Whistler is a world class epicenter of outdoor action and adventure photography with the highest concentration of athletes, photographers, and avid outdoor enthusiasts documenting their experiences in the mountains,” says Workshop Director Blake Jorgenson. “Some might say its the center of the universe for outdoor action and adventure photography. Photography in Whistler and the outdoor activities that we love to enjoy go hand and hand just as the equipment we use to be on the mountain. Documenting and sharing our adventures and epic moments with others inspires us to be out in the mountains even more.”
The Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit will focus on the process from beginning to end of documenting and exploring the outdoors and capturing amazing outdoor visuals. The day course works on being out in the field learning how to manage, direct, and communicate with subjects to make what is seen come to life in all types of conditions, regardless of technical ability. The days end with in classroom edits, review, hands on software instruction and image processing. This year the workshops are in conjunction with The Out of Bounds Photography Contest, include viewing of the Sherpa Cinema’s Film Premier Into The Mind, and an optional finale presentation dinner at The Barefoot Bistro.
Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit will continue each season with new instructors, new industry guests, and new formats:
Action Sport Photography Workshop: Three days of shooting and instruction, six evening lectures/ presentations over three evenings – $900
General Outdoor Photography Workshop: Three days of shooting and instruction, six evening lectures/ presentations over three evenings – $750
