“WHAT’S NEW UNDER THE SUN FOR WINTER 2009/10”

Sun Valley, Idaho continues to add exciting new improvements, activities, events and access to make the experience for winter visitors better than ever.

NEW:  GONDOLA ON BALDY

Sun Valley skiers will have a new and comfortable way to access Bald Mountain this winter, adding to the already amazing amenities, terrain, and setting this world class resort has to offer.  Originating at the base of River Run Plaza and climbing 2000 vertical feet to the new Terminal Plaza at the historic Roundhouse Restaurant, the new Sun Valley state-of-the-art 8 passenger Doppelmayr gondola system will feature two terminals, new restrooms, and new access to one of the world’s most renowned ski mountains.

The new Sun Valley gondola will be up and running for the upcoming ski season, which traditionally starts on Thanksgiving Day.  The gondola is also expected to operate during the summer season, providing new access to sightseers and hikers.  For good food, the best views, and fast, efficient access to the slopes, check out Sun Valley’s newest enhancement!  www.sunvalley.com

NEW:  SUN VALLEY NORDIC SKI FESTIVAL  (January 30-February 7, 2010)

Sun Valley, in addition to its well-deserved reputation for world-class alpine ski terrain and amenities, is also renowned for being “Nordic Town USA”.  In fact, it’s so good, the world’s top Nordic skiers, including the members of the Norwegian Olympic Nordic Ski Team, train here.  But Sun Valley has plenty to offer Nordic skiers and winter recreationalists of all ages and abilities – from over 200 miles of groomed trails and one of the country’s premier Nordic ski races, the Boulder Mountain Tour — to plenty of other recreational and cultural diversions.

The new Sun Valley Nordic Ski Festival, Jan 30 – Feb. 7, 2010 will feature 9 days of activities, races, clinics and fun events, along with discounts on Nordic ski trail passes, demos/rentals, lodging and dining, which showcase and celebrate Sun Valley’s reputation as “Nordic Town USA”.     www.svnordicfestival.com

WHISKEY JACQUES TO RE-OPEN MID-DECEMBER

A long time local favorite, Whiskey Jacques will re-open in mid-December after a devastating fire last year.  Historically one of the most popular live music venues in Ketchum, the new building will have a state of the art audio/video system, and a new upstairs room with 2 decks and views of Baldy.  The menu downstairs will feature similar offerings as before, with a new menu for the upstairs.  Many of the staff will be returning ready to serve those looking for more great music and fun.  www.whiskeyjacques.com
