WHO:Jake Moe and Captain Powder (aka Dave Moe), the founders of Powder Magazine bring together the cast of characters that reflect the uniqueness of the ski bumming as an art form. In an effort to keep the tradition alive the Ultimate Snow Dance kicks off the season.
ABOUT SUN VALLEY POWDER FESTIVAL: Attendees to the 2012 Sun Valley Powder Festival will gather on Thursday evening, December 6th at the Cornerstone Bar & Grill and receive their event wrist bands – serving as the all access ticket to the weekend of events. Entertainment provided by an amazing Laser Light Show. On Friday morning, the festival attacks Baldy for some fast downhill action and moving into the Nordica Ski Jump in the afternoon where skiers have the opportunity to fly of custom kicker into the US Air Bag.
As night arrives, the Ultimate Snow Dance will be rocking in the Limelight Room at the Sun Valley Resort to the sounds of Salt Lake City’s own, Marmalade Hill. The Photo Booth will be the destination of choice throughout the night while Captain Powder will be selecting the Best Costumed attendees by honoring them with a USD Button and the magical White Kiss. These contestants will be automatically qualified to win one of many incredible prizes compliments of K2 skis, Scott Sports apparel and optics as well as many others.
On Saturday, attendees will once again return Baldy in the morning with a second round at the Nordica Ski Jump for those looking to hit the US Air Bag in the afternoon. Contestants will be filmed in slow motion photography and winners of the Big Air Contest will be announced at Apples (starting at 4:00pm) to receive awards from Nordica.
Saturday evening the action moves to the Ketchum Town Square for the Smith Optics Film Festival starting at 6:30. Incredible video action going back to 1967 combined with live music and fire pits to stay warm! Whiskey’s hosts the official after party, doors opening at 9:30, with live music from Pop Cult Kids.
Sunday Morning, Starbucks cranks out the live music for a morning of strong coffee, breakfast sandwiches and memory sharing of a classic weekend in the mountains enjoying the Wood River Valley and world famous Sun Valley.
