SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (May 1, 2012) – POWDER, The Skier’s Magazine, coming off its commemorative 40th anniversary volume, is pleased to announce the additions of John Clary Davies and Heather Hansman to the editorial staff. A former POWDER intern and longtime Senior Correspondent, Davies will assume the role of Associate Editor held by Mike Rogge, who is now Managing Editor. Hansman becomes the first in-house, full-time Online Editor in the recent history of the title.

Since his internship seven years ago, Davies has been a consistent contributor to POWDER and several other ski media outlets, including The Ski Journal, ESPN.com, and Tetongravity.com. Earning a degree in Environmental Journalism from Western Washington University, Davies has been a resident of Portland, Oregon, the last four years, where he worked with disadvantaged youth at Parkrose High School.

POWDER is also elated to announce the hiring of Heather Hansman as Online Editor. Originally from the East Coast, Hansman graduated from Maine’s Colby College with a degree in English and Environmental Studies. After college, she moved to the Rocky Mountains, where she patrolled at Arapahoe Basin and Beaver Creek before working at Women’s Adventure Magazine as Assistant Editor. While there, she acquired her Masters in Print and Broadcast Journalism, with an Environmental Focus, from the University of Colorado, Boulder. The last two years, Hansman was the Online Editor of Skiingmag.com and Skimag.com while contributing to Skiing and SKI magazines.
