La Parva’s Eye OF The Condor is proud to announce a world-class line up of athletes, photographers and videographers for the premier of one of the world’s most unique photo and video competitions. Featuring teams that battle over 5 days (July 30 – August 4) to produce the most compelling photo portfolio and 3-5 minute video segment, the Eye Of The Condor will be hosting some of the best known names in skiing.

Currently, the talent packed pool includes teams from K2, KLIИT, Discrete, Dubsatch, and Optimus Prime. These athletes are some of the best in the world, with proven results at many different levels, from numerous film and television appearances to podium finishes in the most important and prestigious events around the globe.

Participants include Rachel Burks (Discrete), who films with Teton Gravity Research and who has podium finishes in some of the most important big-mountain freeriding events in the world. Burks is joined on the Discrete team by Julan Carr and Parker Cook.

For K2, Sean Petit and Pep Fujas are joined by Andy Mahre, with Alex O’Brien holding down camera duties. The resumes of all of K2’s team members are highly impressive. Petit comes to La Parva after an impressive North American campaign, where he chalked up victories at both the Red Bull Coldrush and Linecatcher competitions. Fujas is the owner of a sliver medal in slopetsyle at the 2003 Winter X Games and numerous film appearances and Mahre, the son of Olympian Steve, is a phenomenal athlete and entrepreneur in his own right, having founded production company Nimbus Independent and having been featured in many ski films.

Other headliners include Dubsatch’s Leo Ahrens, one of the hottest young athletes in big-mountain skiing, and owner of the North Face Young Gun title in 2009; J.T. Holmes and Tim Dutton (Optimus Prime). Holmes is currently ranked 16th in the world on the Freeride World Tour and one of the most recognized B.A.S.E. Jumpers on the planet. Dutton owns a 3rd place finish in 2010 at the Freeride de Chamonix Mont Blanc world tour event and has filmed with Matchstick Productions and Warren Miller.

Also in the mix is Tanner Rainville who heads up a young KLIИT team. Rainville has an impressive resume, including 3rd at the 2008 North American Open Slopestyle, 8th place in the 2008 X Games Slopestyle, 1st place in the 2007 Tignes Airwaves Big Air, and 2nd place in the 2007 WSI Big Air.

“We are very excited to host these athletes,” says Rodrigo Medina, La Parva Director of Sales and Business. “The inaugural year of this event is setting a very high standard and I expect that the competition will produce some amazing results.”
In addition to the competition aspect, which will award cash prizes to the best video and photography portfolio, the Eye Of The Condor provides a forum for broader discussion, with seminars, photo retrospectives and other events that seek to examine the roll that action sports and photography play in marketing and brand development.
