FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
THE MOUNTAIN IS SICKER IN HD
eMotionCam Introduces HD Helmet Camera Rentals
Playa del Rey, CA (Dec 22nd, 2009) This winter, California-based eMotionCam launches its HD helmet camera rental service for ski and snowboard enthusiasts at major retail stores in North American ski resorts. For the first time ever, customers can rent super-compact, ultra-light HD cameras from self-serve kiosks and record up to two hours of footage.
The bright blue eMotionCam kiosks rent ContourHD cameras, the world’s lightest wearable camcorders. Manufactured by Seattle-based VHoldR, the cameras have a 135-degree wide angle lens and directional lasers to align shots. The camera shoots HD footage in 720p quality with sound and can be mounted onto helmets, goggles and even bike handlebars. Once the customer is finished shooting, they return the camera to the kiosk where the footage is downloaded to a data DVD, USB stick or MicroSD Card.
The eMotionCam kiosks have an easy-to-use touch screen interface and are prominently placed inside retailers and resorts in these locations: Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Frisco, Heavenly, Jackson Hole/Teton Village, Kirkwood, Lionshead, Mammoth Lakes, Mountain Creek, Squaw Valley, and Vail.
“Skiers have been shooting footage on their phones and handheld camcorders for years. Its time to bring HD to the mountains for everyone,” says eMotionCams president Steve Jordan. With rental costs ranging from $35-50 per day, he adds, “technology shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. It should be simple and easy to use.” The single button camera controls are designed to be operated while wearing gloves.
eMotionCam kiosks will rent cameras all year round, making them available for mountain bikers and hikers in the spring and summer. A water-resistant casing will soon be added for rafting, kite surfing and other water sports.
