Junk in the Trunk: Marker Ampire Otis Helmet
It'll keep your dome safe

Marker Ampire Otis Helmet
To ski to your highest potential, you need to be able to trust your gear, and most importantly your helmet. The Marker Ampire Otis, the flagship model for Marker’s helmet program, sets the bar for helmets. It’s best feature is the custom fitting Ortema protective foam which pads the back part of your head, forehead, and temples, the most common areas of impact during a fall. The foam is unique as it regains shape quickly after a fall, so it’s ready to absorb multiple impacts within seconds. This is the level of protection that will make you feel safer when you’re skiing away from a mid-mountain safety meeting.
The Ampire Otis is also mindful of your vision. It’s MarkAIR system pulls moisture from inside your goggles, through interior air channels and out the back, so your goggles are less prone to fogging.
Comfort-wise, this helmet is light and adjustable. The RTS fit system, which stands for “rotate to size,” creates a truly snug fit. All you have to do is turn dial in the back. With a precise size for everyone, this helmet isn’t going anywhere when you double eject out of the half pipe. The climate controlled foam means it is ready for any weather, making it an easy packing choice for trips. The top vents are adjustable and simple to manage with gloves on. Another impressively easy feature to use with gloves is the chin strap closer. It is a magic slider buckle with a sturdy hold and doesn’t pinch your skin.
Last but not least, this tank of a helmet has a hard shell that distributes points of impact to lessen the blow of any fall. True, the price of $159 is a bit above the ski bum budget, but spending money to protect your head is never a waste.
