I love Gore-Tex, but it’s that time of year where my waterproof jackets start seeing a lot less action. In their place, I’ve been turning to my favorite spring apparel piece—the hoody. Mark Zuckerberg likes to wear his hoody while closing multi-billion dollar deals or while announcing his company’s next plan to take over the world. I, on the other hand, prefer to drink beer or climb couloirs in these ubiquitous and utilitarian garments.

Hoodies at $100 plus, sounds like a hipster marketing ploy. Kind of like when they tried to market “grunge” clothing when you were supposed to go to the thrift shop for the look.

I don’t think there is anything that would get me to spend that much on a hoody… Unless they give magic powers, those are all a rip off…

If you understand that the Aion sweater hoodie is made in Bali, Indonesia by workers who are paid a fair wage in quality work environments, with quality material……you might realize that $120 is a good deal. Aion is a start up company in Jackson Hole, WY. The founder and designer has yet to even turn a profit, but he has already made a difference for many laborers in Bali, helping to create sustainable businesses there by purchasing sewing machines as well as donating time and supplies to rebuilding a local children’s orphanage that was recently damaged by a storm. I can’t speak for any of the other brands.

    (1) Chicks need hoodies too.
    (2) Way too much merino going on here…I’m allergic. Doesn’t matter how soft it is…I can’t wear it.
