The POWDER staff is attending SIA in Denver this week—the snow sports industry’s biggest trade show, where we are getting a first look at the best gear for skiers. For more reviews and first looks at new gear, go here.

Get in a lift line just about anywhere and its a safe bet that there are at least a handful of skiers within site on Rossignol’s Soul 7. Arguably one of the most popular skis in recent years, the Soul 7 is about to get even better. Completely redesigned for the 17/18 season, Rossi’s 7 Series will see a new, reinforced 3D structure and fully integrated air tip construction that is lighter and stronger. A Paulownia wood core reduces weight by 15 percent, and a Carbon Alloy Matrix (a carbon and basalt weave with linear glass stringers) gives them a titanal-like strength for power, stability, and grip. Similar to the current version, a progressive camber/rocker profile bring float, with additional dampening, without sacrificing the versatility you’ve grown to expect and love in the Soul 7.
